Preparation For Barium Enema and Screening Examination

Instructions to the Patient

• Low Residue Diet
• No laefy vegetables ( Green vegetables)
• Plenty of fluids
• No solids, but can have plain liquids till examination.
• Please bring a bed sheet and a cotton sarong / gown.

• Examination will take about an hour.
• If you are unable to keep this appointment .Please inform the X' Ray Department without delay.

Preparation For Barium Meal and Follow Through Screening Examination

Instructions to the Patient

• Need 6 hour fasting
• Barium Meal Examination will take about half an hour
• For Barium Meal and follow through examination probably you will have to be in the X' Ray Department for about 1 -3 hours but occasionally further times may be required at intervals through the day or even the next day
